Yesterday’s consideration of the waste crisis by the Council of Australian Government’s (COAG) was notable for the ongoing lack of direction and action from the Morrison Government, seven months after announcing an export waste ban.

At today’s National Plastics Summit in Canberra the Morrison Government has again acknowledged the problem but is still yet to show leadership in terms of solutions.

The Morrison Government has done little but talk about Australia’s waste crisis while the plastic export ban is now little more than a year away.

Today’s announcement of another waste recovery plant closure reinforces the severity of the current waste crisis and shows that the Morrison government’s response has been too little, too late.
