We are here to look hard at inequality and social exclusion, to look hard at injustice and environmental damage and to do something about it, with our touchstone being the circumstances of people who are trapped by severe disadvantage, as we seek to help those who stand furthest from the light.

  • Citizenship changes based on politics of fear

You cannot make something true simply by saying it, irrespective of the language in which it is said. This bill is not about strengthening Australian citizenship; it is about this government, in a time of weakness, using our citizenship to make a show of being tough.

  • Josh Wilson is the 11th Federal Member for Fremantle.

Josh grew up in Freo and for more than a decade has made a significant contribution through public and community service.

Prior to entering parliament Josh was a Councillor and then Deputy Mayor of the City of Fremantle (2009-16), where he led work on economic development and revitalisation, initiated the ‘Fremantle Forever’ campaign against local government amalgamations, and introduced a successful Indigenous employment target. He was previously the Chief of Staff to Hon. Melissa Parke, including the period in which Ms Parke was the Minister for International Development.
